Katrina Kaif was born on 16 July 1983, in Hong Kong. Katrina Kaif’s father, Mohammed Kaif, is a British businessman and her mother, Suzanne Turquotte, is an English lawyer and charity worker. She has seven siblings: three elder sisters (Stephanie, Christine, and Natasha), three younger sisters (Melissa, Sonia and Isabel) and an elder brother, Michael.
Katrina’s parents divorced when she was a child. The father moved in United States and the mother took care of all their children. According Katrina’s declarations, Mohammed Kaif had no influence in her or her siblings’ education.
Due to Katrina’s mother occupation as charity worker, they had to move often, so Katrina and her siblings lived in countries as Hong Kong, China, Japan, France, Poland, Belgium, Hawaii, London. The time spent in each country was short every time and Katrina with their siblings had to complete their education in home – schooling system.
In the childhood, Katrina had her mother’s surname – Katrina Turquotte and changed it in Kaif after she became famous and thought it will be easier for pronouncing. Nowadays, Katrina is recognized as a model and actress.
Katrina started her modelling career at age of 14, when she won a beauty contest in Hawaii. After the beauty contest, Katrina received her first modelling assignment in a jewellery campaign. When Katrina moved with her family in London, she continued the modelling career in a professional way, working for agencies and by appearing regularly at London Fashion Week too. Katrina stayed in London only three years. In one of her appearance as model, she was remarked by Kaizad Gustad, an Indian film director. Kaizad Gustad proposed Katrina to play a role in an English-Hindi film, “Boom”. Katrina accepted the offer, and while she was filming “Boom”, she received other offers and took the decision to establish in India. Besides her debuting career in acting, Katrina continued also with the modelling, endorsing brands such as Coca-Cola, LG, Fevicol and Samsung.
Katrina’s first film, “Boom” received bad and critic reviews and her performance also. The main reason it was her poor Hindi language.
In 2004, Katrina appeared in “Malliswari”, a Telugu film. The film and she received critics but it was a profitable affair for Katrina, she received $100,000 . Since 2005 till 2007, Katrina had played in several films like “Sarkar” (2005), “Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?” (2005), “Humko Deewana Kar Gaye” (2006), “Balram vs. Tharadas” (2006). In 2007, Katrina earned her success and recognition in the Bollywood industry through her role in the romantic comedy “Namastey London” in which, she used her London experience to play the role. After, “Namastey London” film, she continued to play, some of the films becoming box-office hits and winning awards and others receiving only critics.
The most important of her movies where “New York” (2009) – for which she received a nomination at a Filmfare Award for Best Actress, “Mere Brother Ki Dulhan” (2011) – she received her second nomination for acting performance, “Ek Tha Tiger” (2012), “Dhoom 3” (2013), “Tiger Zinda Hai” (2017) – all these films ranking ones of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time.
Katrina Kaif is also involved in her mother’s charity projects. One of these projects is “Relief Projects India”, a project that follows to rescue abandoned baby girls and to prevent female infanticide. Katrina participated in game shows as “10 Ka Dum” and “Kaun Banega Crorepati” and she donated all the money earned there to her mother’s Mercy Home orphanage. In 2009-2010, Katrina participated at Salman Khan’s “Being Human” show where she walked the ramp for charity. Other charities activities supported by Katrina were the raising funds for a new school in Madurai or the visit to “Cancer Patients Aid Association”.
Katrina Kaif prefers to keep the personal life only for her, she refusing to speak about it in the media. The social media found about only two of Katrina’s affairs. The first was the affair with Salman Khan, that wasn’t confirmed by any one of them until 2010 when Katrina spoke about it as “her first serious relationship” – at that time they were already separated but it seems they remained friends.
The media reported the new Katrina’s new closeness and possible relationship with Ranbir Kapoor as being the cause of Katrina Kaif – Salman Khan break-up. Katrina with Ranbir met during the filming for “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani”. They denied any love relationship but the media surprised them in 2013 on holiday in Ibiza. According to media, they broke-up in February 2016.
