Nazriya Nazim was born on December 20th of 1994 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. Her parents are Nazimudeen Nazim (father) and Mother Begum Beena (mother). She also has a brother called Naveen Nazim. They all lived in Al Ain, UAE when Nazriya was very young and she went to Our own English High School. Later, the family moved to Thiruvananthapuram where they stayed. Nazriya went to Christ Nagar Senior Secondary School. After graduating from high school, she decided to go to college. The field of studies that she said she wanted to take was Business administration. It was 2013 when she got accepted to Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram. She decided to take a course of commerce and get her bachelor degree. It was not long ago when she had to drop college due to her busy agenda in the film industry.
Nowadays Nazriya is a famous actress and producer who participates in both Malayalam and Tamil films industries but, how did it all started for her?
She actually did not started as an actress directly, she first worked as a presenter on a Malayalam TV show for the channel Asianet. During 2005 she worked for this program which was a quiz TV show called Punyamaasathiloode. Owed to this television show, she gained a lot of popularity and a very good feedback from the audience. She also participated in another TV show of Asianet called Munch Star Singer which was a music competition show.
In 2006 she was offered a role in the movie Palunkul, she was only 12 years old. In this film she played the role of Geethu, the daughter of Monichan the main character. This was a very important movie for Nazriya. Some years after, during 2010, she played the character of Dhanya in the movie Oru Naal Varum. A film about corruption in India and directed by T. K. Rajeev Kumar.
In 2012 she got in touch with her singing side and participated in the album Yuvvh. This album was released by Sony Music and its genre was mainly pop and hip hop. Yuvvh was a very successful album and got more than 200.000 reproductions by the fourth day of being released. The young audience had very positive responses from this album and Nazriya and her colleague, Nivin Pauly, were called to participate together in another film called Neram. This movie was a romantic comedy and was done for both Malayalam and Tamil film industries. This film was very successful since it reached a lot of people and also was very acclaimed by the critics. There is one particular scene, when Nivin proposes to Nazriya that is still remembered and very appreciated by the fans of the movie.
At the age of 19, during 2013, she starred her first movie under Malayalam industry. The film was Maad Dad and the director, Revathy S. Varmha, selected Nazriya for the character of Mariya, one of the lead female roles. In addition, 2013 was not finished and Nazriya had the opportunity to participate in another famous film called Raja Rani. In this movie she played the character of Keerthana, an IT professional. This Tamil romantic film was directed by Atlee and co-starred with Arya, Jai and Nayanthara. In October of the same year, her next movie was released. This was another Tamil romantic comedy called Naiyaandi and co-starred with the actor Dhanush. Nazriya was selected to play the female lead and character of a dentist. The writer and director was A. Sarkunam.
In 2014 she was called to participate in the Malayalam romantic comedy Salalah Mobiles written and directed by Sharath A. Haridaasan. Nazriya plays the role of Shahana, a college student and her co-stars are Dulquer Salmaan as Afsal and Jacob Gregory as Binoy. During 2014 she also starred the movie Thirumanam Ennum Nikkah, another Tamil romantic film. This motion picture was directed by Anis and her co-star was the actor Jai. Finally, in the same year, she starred the Malayalam romantic comedy film Ohm Shanthi Oshaana directed by Jude Anthany Joseph. Her co-star was again Nivin Pauly, they were known as a film-couple that guaranteed success. The movie was very acclaimed by the fans and critics. It became one the most popular movies of 2014 and some even considered the movie of the year. This film provided 3 Kerala State Film Awards included one for Nazriya for Best Actress. The other 2 awards were for Best Popular Film and Best Editor.
Nazriya had a very busy 2014, she also was called to play the character of Divya “Kunju” Prakash, a college graduated girl who had a set marriage. This was a romantic drama Malayalam film called Bangalore Days that was written and directed by Anjali Menon. In addition, she co-starred the movie Samsaaram Aarogyathinu Haanikaram, another Malayalam romantic comedy with the actor Dulquer Salman.
During 2018 Nazriya have participated of two Malayalam films, Koode where she played the role of Jenny and also as a producer for the movie known as Varathan.
When it comes to her personal life, during 2014, Nazriya announced to the media that she was engaged to the actor Fahadh Faasil. The couple knew each other when filming Bangalore Days in the early days of 2014. Their characters were actually husband and wife in this movie. Nazriya and Fahadh thanked their parents for arranging their marriage and helped them to get united. The wedding took place on August of 2014 in a lovely venue in Thiruvananthapuram.
