Helen Nelson better known as Oviya was born on April 29th of 1991 in Kochi, Kerala, India. Her family always support her and she decided to keep them off the spotlight. Oviya keeps a low profile in regards to her private matters. In 2008, after graduating from high school she got accepted in Vimala College in Thrissur. Some years later she graduated and achieved a bachelor degree on Functional English.

Nowadays Oviya is known for being a film actress and a model for both of the Tamil and Malayalam film industries. Her first appearance in the big screen was in the movie Kalavani, a romantic comedy back in 2010. The following years she was called to participate in the film Pandiraj’s Marina which was a success and also in Sundar C’s Kalakalappu in 2012. In addition she participated of the movies Moodar Koodam and Madha Yaanai Koottam during 2013. Her popularity increase significantly after she joined the reality show Big Boss in 2017. She managed to achieve a cult-like following from the media audience.
The beginning was not easy but she managed to become a very successful actress so, how did it all start for her?
She started as an actress rather than as a model. Her first jobs were mainly supporting roles like the one she got for Kangaroo in 2007 and in Puthiya Mukham in 2009, both of this movies were for the Malayalam film industry. During 2008 she participated in the movie Apoorva with a lead role, a college drama film that was released in 2008.
In 2010 Oviya was called by the director Sargunam to audition for his next movie that was going to be called Kalavani. She passed the audition and obtained the female lead role. Her co-star in this film was Vimal. 
The movie was very well received from the media and became a successful in the box officer. In addition, Oviya received a positive response in regards to her performance from the critics. During 2011, after this huge success, she participated in a lot of small productions such us Muthukku Muthaaga, Amara, Vengai, Sevanu and Mugam Nee Agam Naan.
During the next years, Oviya started playing roles in small and medium size cinema productions of Tamil Films. It was in 2012 when she was called to participate in the drama film Marina which was directed by Pandiraj. This movie had a very good response from both the audience and the critics. Her co-star in the movie was Sivakarthikeyan that played the role of Oviya’s partner.
In 2014, Oviya auditioned to star the black comedy film called Moodar Koodam. She starred the movie and she was also called to star the thriller Modha Yaanai. Both films were very well acclaimed by the critics and have provided her with more popularity. In addition, 2014 was not over and she also was ask to participate in the comedy film called Yaamirukka Bayamey where she played the role of a good looking girl. She received very good responses from the media and critics for her performance in this film.
The following years Oviya started participating in films that did not produce good feedback from the critics and her popularity started decreasing. In 2015, the movie Sandamarutham took place. She co-starred it with the actor Sarathkumar. The audience was not happy about this movie and the critics gave her bad reviews.
Moreover, during 2015 two other Tamil film industry movies were released and they as much successful as they were expected to be. During 2016, she starred the film named Hello Naan Pei Pesuren and had a female-centered role as usual.
In 2017 Oviya joined the Tamil reality TV show known as Big Boss. She increase her popularity significantly because 
of this TV show. She show herself in a way that the audience took her as a more honest and charmer person than the other participants of the show. This was related to the fact that she suffered from bullying by the other contestants in the show but since she managed to defend herself with smart and positive responses, the audience took her side and her popularity increase quickly. In addition, thanks to this show she met her boyfriend Arav who actually won the show.
Nowadays Oviya continues working and future film releases will be premiered in 2020.
